CONTENT MGT SYSTEMS (CMS)
meet the needs of an internet age where content is king and dynamic
What is a Content Management System?
A content management system (CMS) is software that allows users without programming knowledge to create, edit, and publish web content, such as text or multimedia elements, collectively via a graphical user interface.
Uses of Content Management Systems
CMSes are typically used for enterprise content management (ECM) and web content management (WCM). An ECM facilitates collaboration in the workplace by integrating document management, digital asset management and records retention functionalities, and providing end users with role-based access to the organization’s digital assets. A WCM facilitates collaborative authoring for websites. ECM software often includes a WCM publishing functionality, but ECM webpages typically remain behind the organization’s firewall.
The most popular CMS systems
The open source systems WordPress, Joomla!, Drupal, TYPO3, and Contao are currently the most popular standard solutions for professional website operation. But every system is of course not equally suited to every individual purpose.
